hi Blitz! nice nick.

anyway,

1st Q:
a. You trying DH/FR or you KNOW you want to do it.
b. 2 different things.

2nd Q:
a - go and borrow a bike and try

If the answer is b. then there is a few ways to go.

i) Get in touch with the bike shops or distros and enquire build prices. see if it matches you budget.
ii) Go Budget DH - Single Crown fun! - Banshee Scythe, Spesh SX Trail, etc
iii) go 2nd hand. plenty around. ask question either here or you friends regarding certain types of frames and brands. you may be surprised what you can uncover especially in the '08 year range.
iv) go for broke... Go Big or Go Home!!! Buy a full blown DH bike

hope this helps. It'll be useful to knw if u just want to ride for fun or race.

R

if u have made up your mind to join the darkside... then u have to ask NewGuy about his setup. He is Mr. Mini DH of the light infantry brigade or click on this link... http://roam-rigs.blogspot.com/2009/10/having-fun-on-slopes-rig.html
